Our influence and support for early years professional development is both local and international.

Students from local colleges are often placed in the centre as part of their early years training programme and student nurses spend time with us to become familiar with young children away from a health setting.

Young people from George Heriot’s independent school visit on work experience placements and trainee teachers from the University of Edinburgh also take up placements with us.

We often host graduate students carrying out research for Masters and PhD theses.

Students of all kinds learn from observing children and staff at work in the centre but they are also encouraged to take an active part by supporting children’s play, often through providing opportunities one to one conversation and book sharing.

We use the Centre as a venue for professional development sessions or seminars and we are committed to sharing our learning widely.
